Original caption: ""Dr. John D. C. Little, Professor of Operations Research and Management and head of the Management Science Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology 's Alfred P. Sloan School of Management, is the first holder of the newly-established George Maverick Bunker Professorship of Management. Dean William F. Pounds announced the appointment of Dr. Little to the chair, which was established in 1978 at the Sloan School by the Martin Marietta Corporation Foundation in honor of its former president and chairman of the board. Professor Little, a leading authority in the science of marketing, is an alumnus of MIT, where he received his S.B. and Ph.D. degrees in physics in 1948 and 1955."
