Description

Black and white photograph of Deveraux H. Murphy wearing special glasses that are designed to track eye movements. This project is directed toward developing a data system for hospitals and medical centers.

Original Caption: "Study of Eye Movements: Devereaux Murphy, a research technician at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, dons special glasses developed at MIT to study eye movements. A computer records and analyzes data from the studies. A photoelectric cell built into the glasses sends information on eye movements as the technician follows a moving target. This information is fed directly by wire to the computer from the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Boston, where this work is done. The studies are being carried out in preparation for developing a data network which will make it possible for small hospitals and medical centers to get data handling service from larger scientific centers. From the Office of Public Relations, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge 39, Massachusetts."
