Description

Mrs. Metcalf, Anna Mitchell Hale Bowditch, Julius Adams Stratton, and Louis Bryant pose in front of the MIT Christmas tree of 1956.

Original caption 1: "M.I.T. Christmas Tree in Kresge Auditorium Lobby was lighted at 5 p.m. yesterday by Chancellor Julius A. Stratton. The 28-foot blue spruce was decorated by The Matrons (faculty wives) and the Dames (students' wives) who were represented by, left to right, Mrs. John Metcalf, Mrs. E. Francis Bowditch and Mrs. Lynwood Bryant."
