Plank on frame model of the frigate USS President. Planking is selectively absent on the deck and starboard side to show the hull frames and interior structure. The model's ship rig is finished to a high level of detail, as are other elements like small boats, cannons, and extra spars.

Launched in 1800, the USS President was one of the first six frigates authorized for the new US Navy. The frigate served in the Mediterranean and in the War of 1812, but was captured by four British warships in 1815.
