Fully rigged model of the 1823 coastal packet sloop Mayflower of Pembroke, Massachusetts. Model shows a broad, relatively flat bottomed vessel with a round bow and square transom and a single mast. Hull is painted dark green below the waterline and black above, with a yellow stripe. Mounted on a flat wood base.
The sloop Mayflower was built in Pembroke, Massachusetts by Luther Briggs in 1823. The builder's lift model for the Mayflower survives in MIT's collections. Historian and curator William A. Baker used that half model as a design source when he commissioned this small-scale reconstruction of the completed vessel.
