Description

Fully rigged model of a pinky-type fishing vessel from the early nineteenth century. Model shows a small vessel with a moderately full bow and bulwarks that sweep back and up to a high, narrow, tombstone-shaped transom. Rig consists of two gaff-rigged masts, a main topmast, and long bowsprit. Model is painted dark green with black topsides and a yellow cove stripe.

Pinky schooners, named for their characteristic high, narrow sterns, were a common type of small fishing vessels built around Essex, Massachusetts, Cape Ann, and along the coast of Maine in the first half of the nineteenth century.
