Description

At anchor from port side, showing long slender hull, short armored conical bridge forward, two smokestacks, canopy over deck, 13-star naval ensign. Cushing, launched in 1890 by the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company, was the first torpedo boat built for the US Navy. Related vessel: Cushing (TB-1).
