This instrument is enclosed in a case made of metal with a cream-colored enamel finish. The front of the instrument has a window that reveals a white mirrored meter scale. The top portion of the scale (in black) measures “Percent Transmittance” is graduated from 0-100% by 1%. The bottom portion of the scale (in red) measures “Optical Density” from 0 to infinity. The front of the case also has three green plastic control knobs, and a cuvette compartment with a green plastic lid. To the left of one of the knobs is a wavelength scale that is graduated from 350-1000 nm by 5 nm. Serial number JD9682, model number 33-29-40.
This instrument was used in MIT's Chemistry undergraduate laboratories, and has a green MIT Department of Chemistry sticker on it.
