Description

This potentiometer is housed in a wood case with a removable lid. The instrument’s top consists of a black Bakelite panel with five binding posts on either side of it, a 10-ohm circular slide wire dial with steps numbered from 0 to 1.5 volts, indicated by raised metal discs around the dial, and a resistance dial below a window displaying a volt scale. Catalog number 7651, Serial number 290977. Stamped "O Chem Department" on the side of the case.

Potentiometers are instruments that measure the voltage (or potential difference) in a circuit by measuring an unknown voltage with a known one from a standard cell (a battery that produced a known and stable voltage).
