
Ferrite core for Whirlwind I computer memory

Description

The magnetic core memory, invented by Jay Forrester, consisted of doughnut-shaped ferrite rings strung on fine wires. This memory system, containing over 1000 tiny magnetic cores, could take in or give out a piece of information in less than eight millionths of a second.
