Portrait of a standing Theodore Newton Vail. This is a copy created in 1924 by Alexander R. James of an 1898 portrait by Humbert. It hung in front of the Vail Library, which housed a large collection of books about electricity and allied subjects.
Old painting label reads: "First general manager of the Bell Telephone company; president of the American Telephone and Telegraph Company 1907-1920; Distinguished as a director of large affairs ever mindful of the public good"
