Small trophy cup with two handles. The front is embossed with "The DuPont Cup" and the bottom is stamped "Tiffany & Co. Makers / 8172 / Sterling Silver / 925-1000" and "M" hallmark.
In 1910, the MIT Advisory Council created the duPont Cup in recognition of longtime donor to MIT Athletics, Thomas Coleman duPont (MIT Class of 1884). Each year, MIT undergrads who wished to compete chose one of three groups of activities (running, jumping, or throwing), and the person who earned the most points in their chosen activity was awarded a replica of the original duPont cup, and their name was inscribed on the original cup held at Tech Union. This cup was one of the replicas awarded to an unidentified winner.¿
