Scale drawing, pencil on paper, comparing sail plans for the schooner Ernestina (ex. Effie M. Morrisey) from 1931 and 1936. The schooner is shown in profile from the starboard side, with the two sail plans superimposed. SK.69-1.
The Ernestina was built in 1894 at the James & Tarr Shipyard in Essex, Massachusetts. First named Effie M. Morrissey, the schooner worked the Grand Banks cod fishery until the 1920s. She subsequently made scientific expeditions to the Arctic and, renamed Ernestina, carried passengers and freight between the United States and the Cape Verde Islands. Naval architect and historian William A. Baker drew this plan for a restoration of the vessel in 1978.
