Description

In 1963, Project MAC (Project on Mathematics and Computation) was founded to bring together researchers studying computers and computation at MIT. In the early 1970, Project MAC split, with some members creating the MIT AI Lab, and others staying on in what became known as the Laboratory for Computer Science (LCS). In 2003, the two laboratories merged again into the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, or CSAIL
