one of the first four iron trans-Atlantic ships built in the United States. Indiana's sister ships include Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. The ship was owned by the American Line and was in service between Europe and America. A keystone was painted on its stack representing the Pennsylvania Railroad, which partly owned the American Line.
