Description

Named after the Clipper Barque Coquette which James H. Perkins rode when when the barque was making voyages from Calcutta to China. The schooner yacht Coquette beat the sloop Maria, owned by Commodore Stevens, in Sandy Hook in 1846, which was then considered the fastest yacht in America.
