Description

The Maryland Dove is a replica of the 42-ton vessel which brought some of the first English settlers to the new Maryland colony in 1634. Designed by Hart Nautical Musuem curator William A. Baker, this replica was based on records of small merchant ships of the early 1600s.

In 2022, a new replica Dove was built by the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum to replace the aging 1978 replica.
