“Carr, Lynch and Sandell prepared a Master Plan for Bare Cove that defined a vision for future mixed use development of the former World War II ammunition depot. Proposals for the 470-acre park included a park house, boat house, boat launch, beach, interpretive trail and landscape conservation measures. For the 55-acre “School Depot” parcels, the Plan proposed consolidated municipal facilities, rationalized roadways, athletic fields, field house, affordable housing while holding a site for a future school. To meet future Town needs, the Plan recommended State land acquisition for a football stadium, hockey rink and parking fronting Route 3A.”
