"The Daresco Complex is a major urban development project planned for the commercial center of the Dammam metropolitan area, Saudi Arabia. The essential components of the Complex include two fourteen story office towers, a two level commercial center, an exhibition Hall, and a twenty-five story hotel tower with ballroom and conference facilities. Parking for 2,000 cars is provided on two levels above the shopping facility. The architectural language continues traditional forms and images - wooden sun screens, arcaded pedestrian networks, landscape courts, and plazas enhanced by pools and fountains. The interior shopping street is composed of a series of linked, octagonal, sky-lit pavilions that introduce natural interruptions in the length of the mall and provide places for cafes, shopping kiosks and changing displays. Construction documents for the project were completed, but construction was abandoned due to the economic conditions in the Kingdom at the time."
