Description

In use, Harold Edgerton's sub-bottom profiler (mud penetrator) was towed behind the boat; Edgerton sometimes attached it to a large wood pole for guidance and stability. Edgerton is at right, holding the pole; the sub-bottom profiler is visible under the central person's knee.
