Description

Close-up on the display case from GCP-00004651. A white box and some text have been applied directly to the glass. The text reads, "A Weather Forecast-Factory. Nearly 40 years before electronic computers, Lewis Fry Richardson imagined a 'forecast-factory' in which 64,000 mathematicians raced the weather around the globe. From this factory he developed the basis of a model for numerical weather prediction. The model was fundamentally the same as that used today by computers." Original credit line: Charles Eames
