Original caption: "Centrifuge in action at the Instrumentation Laboratory's Special Test Facility. Able to produce 30 times the force of gravity, the giant centrifuge can spin at speeds up to 200 miles per hour. Inertial guidance systems developed at the Instrumentation Laboratory are placed at one end of the arm in a metal capsule and rotated at varying speeds. Precise measuring instruments make it possible to determine effects of the tremendous centrifugal force."
