Description

This pyrometer is housed in a metal fan-shaped case with a window along its front face that opens onto a white scale which is graduated from 0 to 3000 degrees Fahrenheit. A thin needle with a red circle is the indicator for the scale, and there is a reflecting band in the center of the scale. It has a resistance of 204 ohms. Serial number 37179.

Pyrometers are instruments that register the thermal radiation emanating from a hot object at a distance and correlates that to its temperature. Since they do not require contact with the object being measured, pyrometers are useful for talking temperatures that would otherwise be difficult to measure.
